WSH is the state of art facility operating since 1828 under Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services. WSH is 302-bed Joint Commission accredited facility located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30-minutes of major university towns and is affiliated with the University of Virginia-Department of Psychiatric Medicine and provides a training ground for professionals from other colleges and universities in the fields of nursing, social work, psychology, and activities therapy.
WSH provides treatment through multidisciplinary teams of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, social workers, mental health workers, activities therapists, and behaviorally trained direct care staff. Individual treatment plans are developed for each patient. The programs provide for a full range of individual, group, family, milieu, and medication modalities for stabilization and resumption of effective function. This position will carry a moderate case load of patients. WSH uses an electronic medical record with access to decision support tools. Residents and Fellows are encouraged to apply.
