Neurocritical Care Physician Assistant Needed in Metairie, Louisiana

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Neurocritical Care Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens position at a 446-bed Level I trauma academic research hospital in Metairie, Louisiana. This role involves providing comprehensive care in the Neuro ICU, which includes 24-hour APP coverage with neurointensivist support. You will manage a range of critical care responsibilities including patient admission, treatment, and discharge, as well as performing critical care procedures and managing mechanical ventilation. The position requires a strong background in neurocritical care with skills in patient education, wound care, and various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The ideal candidate will be proficient in neurocritical care management and familiar with critical care procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

Board Certification: Required (Adult Geriatric or Acute Care)
State License: Required (Louisiana); providers with the LA license applied for and in process may be considered
Skills Required: Facilitate patient admission, treatment, discharge; perform a range of procedures including mechanical ventilation management, and critical care procedures; familiarity with neurocritical emergencies and protocols
Skills Preferred: CVC insertion, arterial line insertion, lumbar puncture; manage high-morbidity Neurosurgery post-operatively; interpret neuroimaging and other diagnostic tests
