Position Overview

A female juvenile correctional facility (patients under 21 years old) in Dix Hills, NY is seeking an experienced NP/PA to provide part-time medical coverage. This is a unique opportunity to deliver comprehensive primary and urgent care to an underserved adolescent population in a structured environment.

Schedule

Part-time: 20 hours per week

Shift Hours: Flexible between 8:00a–6:00p (to be discussed during interview)

On-Call: After-hours and weekend telephone consultation for urgent health situations

Start Date: October 22, 2025

Responsibilities

Perform admission health assessments and annual physicals, including review of medical history, labs, immunizations, and referrals

Provide medication management (initiation, evaluation, monitoring for efficacy and side effects)

Address urgent care and sick call needs; refer to MD, psychiatrist, ER, or other providers when appropriate

Coordinate immunizations, TB testing, labs, consults, and specialist referrals in collaboration with medical staff

Maintain thorough documentation of all encounters using a problem-oriented approach

Monitor and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and facility/OCFS policies

Communicate with families/guardians when medical needs arise

Requirements

Board Certification: NP or PA required

Experience: Prior correctional medicine, adolescent care, or urgent care background preferred

Licensure: Active New York license required

Certifications: BLS (additional certifications preferred)
