Hematology/Oncology Locum Opportunity – Indiana
Start Date: January 1, 2026
Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Hematology/Oncology provider for a locum opportunity in Indiana. This position requires availability for 3 weeks per month or full-time (preferred). Providers available for only 1–2 weeks per month will not be considered.
Schedule:
Clinic: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch). Clinic sees 18–20 patients daily.
Call: Weekend call rotation Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM, shared with other providers and backup with APPs. Hospital rounding during primary call as needed for consults and patient care. No procedures required.
Overtime: Applicable after 8 hours per day.
Patient Mix:
Hematology: ~65%
Oncology: ~35%
Department Structure:
2 Oncologists, 4 APPs
APPs manage most Hematology patients (14–18/day)
Oncologists manage Cancer patients (18–20/day)
Hospital Rounding:
Weekend rounding typically includes 10–12 patients.
Hospitalists handle emergencies; most consults can wait up to 24–48 hours.
On-call oncologists are generally not required to return after rounds unless clinically necessary.
Candidate Requirements:
Active Indiana State License or participation in IMLC
Board Certified or Board Eligible in BOTH Hematology and Oncology (Certification must be obtained within 5 years of residency)
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience preferred
Flu vaccination required (or medical/religious exemption)
ACLS-AHA certification required for conscious sedation privileges
BLS-AHA certification required for all providers
Responsible for order entry during shifts
