Job description
· Level III trauma center, Level III NICU
· Main hospital: 13 ORs, 5 Endo Suites, 1 EP lab, 2 Cath labs
· ACS 2 rooms: high volume of eyes
· Surgical/Procedural Services: Cardio thoracic including open hearts and TAVR, vascular, bariatric, colorectal, acute care surgery, surgical oncology including GYN Oncology, GI, ENT, EP, orthopedics,
Group Size: 26 physicians – physicians sit their own cases
Locations:
· 2, main hospital & 1 ASC (Hiawatha) 2 anesthesiologist at the ASC 15 minute from the hospital
· Locations at main hospital: EP Lap, Endo Suite, Radiology, ORs, OB
Call:
· Need 1 cardiac, 1 OB, and 1 General anesthesiologist on call every day.
· 35 days of call annually for OB/General Call physicians,
· 1:4 (91 days of call annually) for cardiac anesthesiologists Only 2 times in the last year has a cardiac case been taken to the OR between 10pm -6am
· 1 cardiac, 1 general cases, 1 OB (24 hours call)
· Cardiac 1500-0700, general 1500-0700, OB 24 hours call
· Call is not in house.
· 30-minute call response time
Schedule:
· 06:30-17:30 = 4 physicians’ patient in the room at 07:00
· 06:30-15:30 = 18 physicians, patient in the room at 07:00
Volume:
· 1,200 cases a month
· All types of cases expect transplant and peds. Peds for us is tubs and tonsils, Johnny fell off the swing set and broke his arm type cases
· 150ish hearts – 1 cardiac surgeon, 100 TAVR
· Almost no heads, what little heads are extremely basic.
· 9,932 GI Cases annually- 2791 inpatient
OB:
· 24-hour call does not have to be in-house.
· High end 3-4 moms laboring at a time
· 200 deliveries, 20 v-bacs.
· Only doing emergent C-section, schedule C-Sections just go on the OR board like any other case.
· 46 epidurals per month placed.
· 14.5 emergent c-sections per month
· Must be in house for v-bac 5 cm or greater. 1.2 times per month average length inhouse 3.5 hours.
Anesthesiologist Package:
· $600,000 base $40,000 cardiac Stipend.
· $300,000 sign on – 4 year “repayment” term
· 10 weeks PTO
· 35 call shifts for general anesthesiologists (cardiac is compensated by the stipend)
· Over 35 annually compensated at $2000 per shift -primary secondary OB call
· Post Primary call day off
· In an emergency if they work a post call day that should be off compensated t $1800
