Family Medicine Physician Needed in Melrose, MN | Rural Critical Access | Weekend Call Coverage

Job description

This is a family medicine opportunity at a rural critical access hospital in Melrose, Minnesota, where the primary need is weekend coverage. The schedule is a 1:4 or 1:5 weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), primarily on call, including morning rounding, pediatric admissions, and ER support; more frequent schedules (such as two weekends in a row) and some clinic days can be arranged. The assignment runs approximately 13 weeks, with a six-month commitment ideal, and credentialing runs approximately 90 days. The provider must be within a 30-minute response time for hospital backup call (on site if in the ED).

The setting is a rural hospital with a census averaging 7-9 medical and transitional care patients. Tele-hospitalist coverage handles adult admissions Monday-Thursday 7:00p-7:00a and 24 hours on weekends and holidays; on weekdays 7:00a-7:00p the on-call physician does admissions. If also doing clinic, the physician averages 13-15 clinic visits per day. Support includes an LPN or CMA working directly with the provider, an RN within the team, an on-site interpreter, and 24/7 lab and imaging. Documentation is in Epic.

Candidates should be Board Certified in Family Medicine, with a Minnesota license, two or more years of experience, a 100 percent clean record, and BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications. Local candidates are preferred.
