This facility is a comprehensive quaternary care facility affiliated with Loyola University Chicago. The center offers a wide range of medical services, including a Level I Trauma Center, Illinois' largest Burn Center, and a renowned Transplant Center, among others.

About the facility location

Situated approximately 13 miles west of downtown Chicago, the medical center is easily accessible via the Union Pacific West Line at the Maywood Metra station. The surrounding area is well-served by Pace Bus routes, providing convenient public transportation options for patients and visitors.

About the clinician's workday

The schedule is Monday through Friday, working 10- or 12-hour shifts. This is a Level 1 trauma center with cases for all ages, though CRNAs typically do not care for patients under 2 years old. Case types include general surgical (adult), plexus anesthesia, minor nerve blocks, ventilation management, neurosurgical cases, regional anesthesia, and epiduralsthough nerve blocks and plexus cases are minimal. Facilities include 24 ORs in the main hospital, 8 in the ASC, 2 labor and delivery ORs (not staffed by CRNAs), 4 GI lab sites, 1 bronch lab (twice a week), 1 MRI (once a week), 2 EP labs (5 days a week), 1 cath lab (intermittent), and 1 interventional radiology suite.
