The facility operates under a medically directed care team model where MDs supervise CRNAs at a 1:4 ratio, with MDs occasionally performing their own cases and rare MD solo coverage. The hospital maintains modern anesthesia capabilities supporting diverse surgical specialties including general surgery, neurosurgical procedures, orthopedic cases, obstetrics, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, and endoscopic procedures. The facility offers flexible scheduling options and supports both day shift operations and call coverage requirements.
About the facility location
Newport News offers visitors a diverse collection of attractions centered around maritime heritage and natural experiences. The Mariners' Museum and Park serves as a prominent cultural destination, while the Virginia Living Museum provides educational opportunities focused on regional wildlife and ecosystems. Nearby Norfolk expands the regional offerings with attractions such as Nauticus and the Virginia Zoo, accessible through combination ticket packages. About the clinician's workday
The CRNA will provide comprehensive anesthesia services during day shifts with multiple scheduling options including 8-, 10-, 12-, and 24-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The clinician will manage a broad case mix including general, neuro, ortho, OB, urology, GYN, ophthalmology, and endoscopy procedures within a medically directed care team model with MD supervision at a 1:4 MD-to-CRNA ratio. In-house call is preferred with holiday shifts and holiday call coverage preferred, though overtime is not expected but may be available based on volume. Core responsibilities include pre-anesthesia assessments, consent verification, patient education on anesthetic options and risks, induction, maintenance, emergence, physiologic monitoring, and clinical interventions as needed.
