Work Details:
Support staff: Coverage across 3 facilities (1 Level I Trauma Center and 2 Community Hospitals). Team consists of 30+ Anesthesiologists and 70+ CRNAs. 100% medically directed care team model (1:4).
Amount of coverage needed per month:
Patient population/age: Adult population. Limited pediatric cases; locums are not expected to cover pediatrics or cardiac cases.
Department description: Fast-paced Level I Trauma environment providing anesthesia services across three Sentara facilities.
EMR: Cerner
Hospital bed size: 700 beds
Special procedures:
- CRNAs administer their own anesthetic medications.
- Place epidurals, spinals, and arterial lines.
- Some obstetric anesthesia.
- Some trauma (primarily outpatient surgery).
- Some arterial catheters, lumbar epidural catheters, and spinal anesthesia.
- No brachial plexus blocks or other regional anesthesia blocks.
Skills required:
- Level I Trauma experience required.
- Large vascular cases.
- Neurosurgery.
- High-risk OB/GYN.
- Orthopedics.
- General surgery.
- Thoracic surgery.
- Comfortable working in a medically directed care team model (1:4).
