Gastroenterology Locums Opportunity – Northern California

Job description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for an ongoing locums assignment in Fortuna, CA starting January 2026. This position offers both clinic and call coverage across two community hospitals with strong support staff and Epic EMR.

Assignment Details:

Start Date: January 1, 2026

Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours plus call

Schedule:

Weekday clinic: 7:30a–3:30p (St. Joseph) or 7:40a–3:40p (Redwood)

Night call: 5:00p–7:30/7:40a (following day)

Weekend call: 24-hour coverage

½ hour unpaid lunch during weekday shifts

Volume: 12–16 patients per shift

Practice Setting: Inpatient + Outpatient

Support Staff: Yes

EMR: Epic

Clinical Skills Required:

Upper & lower GI endoscopy

Esophageal dilatation & manometry (incl. interpretation)

Small bowel biopsy

Sigmoidoscopy & colonoscopy

Liver biopsy

ERCP proficiency required

Requirements:

Board Certification: Required (Gastroenterology)

License: Active California license only

Certifications: ERCP, Fluoroscopy, BLS

Providers Needed: 1

Credentialing: 90–120 days
