General Anesthesiologists Needed in the Memphis Area

Job description

A large hospital network in the Memphis area is seeking two Anesthesiologists for ongoing locum tenens coverage.

Providers must be willing to rotate between multiple hospital locations throughout the Memphis metropolitan area. The schedule primarily consists of Monday through Friday coverage, with limited weekend opportunities and optional call based on availability.

Most shifts are 10 hours, with some 12-hour shifts available. Providers must be able to commit to at least two weeks of coverage per month.

The case mix includes general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, vascular, urology, gynecology, neurological procedures involving the head and spine, transplants, cardiac cases, and non-operating-room anesthesia. Non-operating-room cases may include gastroenterology, cardiac catheterization, and interventional radiology.

General Anesthesiologists are encouraged to apply. Additional experience in cardiac, neurological, transplant, or trauma anesthesia is welcomed but not required. TEE certification is only required for physicians providing specialized cardiac anesthesia coverage.

Physicians must be comfortable supervising CRNAs for approximately two-thirds of their assignments and personally performing cases for the remaining portion. Required procedural skills include epidurals, spinals, regional anesthesia, and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible and maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. An active Tennessee or Mississippi medical license is required, with dual licensure preferred. An active DEA registration is also required.

Credentialing typically takes approximately 60–90 days. Travel, lodging, and rental-car expenses may be reimbursed for qualifying non-local providers.
