Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic cardiac
electrophysiology team in Eastern North Carolina, where our guiding principle is to provide
exceptional care to our patients by offering personalized attention to their cardiovascular health.

Team: 2 Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologists
Facilities: 1 location equipped with advanced technology, with exciting future growth and plans to
open an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
Schedule: Typically a Monday to Friday daytime schedule
Position Summary:
The Outpatient Electrophysiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner (NP) /
Physician Assistant (PA) – functions as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive
care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients in
the outpatient clinic setting, collaborates closely with electrophysiologists and cardiologists, and
provides education to patients and families.
This role also offers access to a structured APP training program designed to support professional
growth and skill development, with opportunities to collaborate with nationally recognized
leaders in cardiology and electrophysiology.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Conduct follow-up visits for patients post-ablation, device implantation, or cardioversion.
Manage chronic rhythm disorders, including medication titration, anticoagulation, and
monitoring.
Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic studies (ECG, Holter, event monitors,
echocardiograms, stress tests).
Provide wound checks and symptom evaluation after EP procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as identified by clinical needs.
Device Management
Perform in-clinic device interrogations (pacemakers, ICDs, CRTs).
Review and respond to remote device transmissions.
Troubleshoot alerts and coordinate urgent care when needed.
Educate patients on living with cardiac devices.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with electrophysiologists, cardiology colleagues, and allied health staff.
Coordinate anticoagulation management using CHA₂DS₂-VASc and HAS-BLED scoring.
Develop peri-procedural care plans in collaboration with physicians.
Support clinical research efforts, as applicable.
Patient Education
Provide counseling on arrhythmia management, lifestyle modifications, medication
adherence, and device safety.
Facilitate shared decision-making regarding procedural vs. medical management options.
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with active state license.
Board certification required (ACNP, FNP, or PA-C).
Cardiology experience preferred; electrophysiology experience strongly preferred or
willingness to learn.
Skills & Knowledge Needed
Strong foundation in cardiac physiology & arrhythmias.
Strong skill with ECG interpretation.
Knowledge of antiarrhythmic drugs and their side effects.
Familiarity with anticoagulation guidelines (CHA₂DS₂-VASc, HAS-BLED, peri-procedural
management).
Competence in device management systems (e.g., Medtronic CareLink, Abbott Merlin, Boston
Scientific Latitude, Biotronik Home Monitoring).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and colleagues
Schedule & Work Setting
Outpatient clinic-based role (no or minimal inpatient rounding).
Typical hours: Monday–Friday, daytime schedule.
May include responsibility for remote monitoring inbox and patient phone triage.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of cardiac physiology and arrhythmia management.
Competence in managing antiarrhythmic and anticoagulation therapies.
Proficiency with device monitoring systems.
Strong communication skills for patient and team interaction
