Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist (VA)

Job description

We’re seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist (RNFA/SFA) for a locum tenens assignment starting in January (100–120-day credentialing period). This is a full-time, Monday–Friday (7a–3p) role focused on standard/open cardiac cases — including CABG and septomyectomies — as well as thoracic procedures.

Candidates should be proficient in EVH using the McKay platform and must be able to harvest from the left side (dealbreaker). Experience with Da Vinci robotics and endoradial harvest is preferred but not required. The facility uses EPIC EMR, and full travel is covered.

An active Virginia medical license is preferred, though candidates willing to obtain one prior to the start date will be considered. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled First Assist looking to join a supportive surgical team and make an immediate impact.

  • Full-time, weekday schedule (7a–3p) with travel fully covered
  • Mix of cardiac and thoracic cases — EVH proficiency required
  • Active VA license or ability to obtain prior to start
