Job description

A respected regional health system is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeon (MD) to provide vacation call coverage during key windows in December 2025 and March 2026. This position is call-only and ideal for a local candidate who can step into a low-call-volume environment with a strong support team and no clinic responsibilities.

Assignment Details:
- Coverage Windows: One week between December 20, 2025 – January 4, 2026 One week between March 14–22, 2026
- Contract Type: Short-term, week-at-a-time vacation coverage
- Schedule: 24-hour call only (no clinic)
- Patient Volume: ~4 cardiac surgeries/week
- No elective cases during coverage; emergent only

Support & Setting:
- Hospital
- Team: 2 cardiac surgeons (1 FTE, 1 PRN), OR APP, and ICU APP
- No vein harvesting or OR time required
- Patient Population: Adults (18+) only

Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in managing post-op cardiac surgery patients and ventilator management
- Experience with ABR and AVR procedures
- No transplant or heart-lung bypass required
- Must be comfortable managing fresh post-op patients

Qualifications:
- Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
- Active MD license or IMLC eligibility
- ACLS and DEA required
- Credentialing: Emergency privileges in 3–4 weeks
