BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTAKE THERAPIST
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Intake Therapist to join our team. This role focuses on engaging with adults, children, and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities to identify service needs and facilitate the start of their treatment journey. Services are delivered in an office setting on both a walk-in and scheduled basis.
JOB OVERVIEW
Schedule: Monday–Thursday (4:00 pm – 12:00 am), Friday (4:00 pm – 11:00 pm). Occasional Saturdays (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) may be required.
Flexibility: Flexible part-time hours are available; full-time positions may be considered.
Environment: Team-oriented office setting with a focus on clinical excellence and person-centered care.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessments: Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to identify service preferences and areas of need, completing all documentation within 48 hours.
Information Integration: Gather data from consumers, families, guardians, and medical histories to form a complete clinical picture.
Clinical Techniques: Utilize motivational interviewing to help consumers articulate their goals and address specific needs.
Planning & Safety: Assist consumers in initiating the person-centered planning process and develop safety plans as required.
Referrals: Identify consumers requiring extensive evaluation and facilitate referrals for psychological testing or discovery groups.
Collaboration: Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and team meetings.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of all face-to-face and phone contacts in accordance with program standards and audits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
Licensure: Must possess a Full License (LMSW, LLP, or LPC) in the State of Michigan. License must be active and free from disciplinary action.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment to adults and children with severe mental illness.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the examination and treatment of minors and their families.
Certifications:
Must obtain QMHP, CMHP, and QIDP credentials within 120 days of hire.
Must possess a CAADC credential or be on an active MCBAP Development Plan within six weeks of hire.
Preferred Skills: Experience with Crisis Intervention is highly preferred.
