Emergency Medicine Physician – Free-Standing EDs | Corpus Christi, TX

Job description

We are seeking Emergency Medicine physicians for flexible, high-acuity coverage across a system of free-standing emergency departments (FSEDs) in the Corpus Christi area. This opportunity is ideal for physicians who are efficient, confident in a broad range of emergency procedures, and looking for flexible scheduling without call obligations.

Position Highlights

Start: ASAP – flexible scheduling
Duration: Locum opportunity with potential for up to 1 year of coverage
Shift Times: 12-hour shifts — 6a–6p or 6p–6a
Coverage Model: Single-physician coverage with 12-hour daily APP support at each site
Call: None
EMR: Meditech
Onboarding:
2-hour orientation (EMR and quality measures)
1 shadow shift at a main site
1 shadow shift at a FSED
Clinical Environment
Multiple sites across the Corpus Christi area
High-acuity FSEDs and hospital-affiliated locations
Patient Volume:
~60 patients/day at main site
10% admission rate at FSEDs
Common Demographics: Elderly, rural populations, nursing home patients
Procedures Required:
Central line placement
Intubation
Dislocation reductions
Trauma stabilization
STEMI/stroke response
OB deliveries
Candidate Requirements

Accepted Specialties:

Board-certified in Emergency Medicine
Family Medicine (ABFM) or Internal Medicine (ABIM) with solid Emergency Medicine experience (FSEDs only)
Case Logs: Must be provided to demonstrate procedural competence
Licensure: Active Texas license preferred
