Gastroenterologist Locums Needed in South Carolina – 24-Hour Call

Job description

We are seeking a locum tenens Gastroenterologist to provide ongoing coverage in South Carolina starting November 24, 2025. This assignment offers a 100% inpatient practice environment with 24-hour call responsibilities and an average of 16 patients per day (including ~6 consults).

The GI service is supported by a 4-physician group with APPs during weekdays, though the locum will provide solo coverage nights and weekends. Physicians must be comfortable handling the full spectrum of inpatient GI cases independently.

Required Procedures: Colonoscopy, liver biopsy, esophageal dilatation/manometry (and interpretation), sigmoidoscopy, lower GI endoscopy, PEG placement, and both diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopies (foreign body removal, cautery/laser, injection and banding of varices). ERCP is preferred but not mandatory.

• 100% inpatient – 16 patients/day including 6 consults
• 24-hour call coverage shifts, ongoing from 11/24/2025
• ERCP preferred but not required
