General Surgery Locum Tenens – Flexible 24-Hour Call Coverage in the Bay Area

Job description

A premier health system in San Francisco, CA is seeking a board-certified General Surgeon for locum tenens coverage beginning November 2025. This float pool position covers two hospitals just a few miles apart, providing excellent case variety and a collaborative environment.

Position Highlights:
• 24-hour call with on-site hospital coverage each morning
• Manage adult patients; average of 4–5 daily rounds
• Initial schedule of 5 shifts/month, with potential to increase to 15/month in early 2026
• Epic EMR utilized across facilities
• Da Vinci robotic surgery experience strongly preferred

Requirements:
• Board Certification in General Surgery
• Active California license and DEA registration required
• Minimum of 2 years post-training experience
