Locum Tenens Opportunity – Colorectal Surgeon Needed in GA

Job description

We’re currently seeking a Board-Certified Colorectal or General Surgeon with lower GI procedure proficiency for a locum tenens opportunity in Augusta, Georgia. Join a well-established surgical team providing comprehensive inpatient and emergency colorectal care in a large hospital setting.

📍 Job Details:
Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (~120 days)
License: Active GA license required (IMLC considered)

Schedule:
Daily Coverage: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM

After-Hours Call: 6:00 PM – 7:30 AM (avg. 1–2 calls/night)

Weekend Call: Friday 6:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM

Average Census: 12–15 patients/day (combination of consults and procedures)


🔧 Work Scope:
Coverage for Emergency Department, Inpatient Consults, and Emergency Surgical Procedures

Procedures include:

Colonoscopies, Anoscopies

Rectal Surgery

Colon Resections

Polypectomy

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

IBD-related surgical management


👨‍⚕️ Team & Support:
1 MD on call per shift (you)

No APP support

Additional 3 colorectal surgeons available for consults or support from clinic or OR


✅ Requirements:
Board Certification: American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery or General Surgery with strong colorectal proficiency

Experience: Minimum 2–5 years in colorectal surgery

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, DEA

License: Georgia state license required (IMLC candidates reviewed)

• IMLC accepted
• Board-Certified Colorectal or General Surgeon with lower GI procedure proficiency
