General Surgeon Opportunity – Rural New Mexico Facility
Job description
Location:
Charming rural community (population ~10,000) in New Mexico, serving a 25-bed critical access hospital with an average surgical volume of ~20 cases per month.
Position Highlights:
Schedule:
15–18 clinic days/month (Mon–Wed–Fri Surgery Days)
Weekend call coverage required
Exact shift times TBD
Provider is on call while covering the ER
Case Mix:
Bread and butter general surgery
Includes: C-sections, hernia repairs, vasectomies, hysterectomies, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, etc.
No major trauma, CV, brain, spine, or ortho surgeries — high-level trauma is stabilized and transferred
Facility Details:
Surgical services provided on both inpatient and outpatient bases
Day Case Unit for procedures not requiring overnight stays
2 experienced OR nurses support each surgeon
Clinic shared with a small OB practice
Licensure & Credentialing:
New Mexico License:
~60–90 days to credential if already licensed in NM
~120 days if licensure is needed
