Locum General Surgeon – Rural Southwest – High-Impact, Low-Volume Role

This locum tenens opportunity is perfect for a board-certified General Surgeon seeking meaningful work in a community-focused, rural environment. With a modest 25-bed setup and a population base of 10,000, you’ll be the backbone of surgical care, providing both inpatient and outpatient services.

🔹 Position Highlights
• Bread-and-Butter General Surgery: Hernias, gall bladders, C-sections, appendectomies, hysterectomies, vasectomies, and laparoscopic procedures.
• Clinic + OR Schedule: Approx. 15–18 days per month in clinic, operating primarily Mon/Wed/Fri.
• Low Volume, High Impact: ~20 surgical cases per month, ensuring manageable workload with focused care.
• Strong Surgical Support: Dedicated OR team—2 experienced nurses per surgeon.
• On-Call Integration: Weekends include on-call coverage, primarily stabilization and transfer of major trauma.

🔹 Work Environment
• Critical Access Facility: Prioritizes surgical stabilization and transfers out high-acuity trauma.
• Shared Clinic Space: Collaborate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary setting, including OB services.
• Day Surgery Unit: Perform outpatient procedures without overnight admissions.

🔹 Candidate Requirements
• Board Certification in General Surgery (required)
• Active NM license preferred (willing to license considered)
• Minimum 2 years' surgical experience

🔹 Privileges Timeline
• ~60–90 days with active NM license
• ~120 days without
