Position: Collector (Healthcare Insurance & Medical Collections)
Location : Temple, TX 76502
Duration : 3 + Months contract
Experience Required: 3–5 years in medical collections, insurance claims, and EPIC HB Resolute
Job Summary
The Collector is responsible for managing assigned accounts receivable, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding balances through direct communication with patients, insurance companies, attorneys, and other stakeholders. This role requires strong knowledge of medical collections, insurance claim processes, and EPIC HB Resolute functionality to drive accurate billing and effective collections.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform collection activities for assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Contact patients, insurance companies, attorneys, employers, and physicians to resolve payment issues or establish payment plans.
- Review and follow up on claim statuses, interim billings, and insurance information via phone or correspondence.
- Maintain detailed collection files and documentation in the accounts receivable system.
- Research and process accounts for write-off, preparing documentation for management approval.
- Counsel patients on financial arrangements and respond to inquiries with professionalism.
- Collaborate with collection affiliates and credit bureaus to resolve payment difficulties.
- Review and respond to correspondence related to accounts, taking appropriate action.
Key Success Factors
- Strong knowledge of medical collections and insurance claim processes.
- Hands-on experience with EPIC HB Resolute and Claims workflows.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and insurance follow-up.
- Analytical skills to determine account resolution strategies, including write-offs.
- Professionalism and empathy when handling sensitive financial discussions.
