Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for the Operating Room to oversee perioperative services in a busy acute care setting. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to implement best practices to ensure safe, high-quality care. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading teams, fostering collaboration with physicians and staff, managing resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the daily operations of perioperative services within a 24/7 clinical environment.
Oversee staff performance, development, and succession planning.
Collaborate with physicians, healthcare teams, and external providers to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
Monitor and manage budgets, payroll, equipment, and supply utilization.
Drive initiatives in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Ensure emergency preparedness and staff readiness plans are developed and executed.
Implement and maintain best practice models, patient care delivery systems, and evidence-based standards of care.
Manage staff relations, including recruitment, retention, labor relations, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications
Required:
Current California RN license (at time of hire).
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Minimum 5 years of current Operating Room RN experience in an acute care hospital (surgery center experience may be considered if the majority is acute care).
At least 4 years of nursing leadership experience (Manager, Supervisor, or Charge RN), with at least 2-3 years at the Manager or Supervisor level.
Preferred:
CNOR certification.
Experience working in a unionized healthcare environment.
Skills & Competencies
Strong management and organizational skills.
Knowledge of patient safety, nursing principles, and compliance regulations.
Experience in business operations, quality improvement, and change management.
Ability to build cross-functional teams and foster collaboration.
