Ongoing Medical Oncology Locum Coverage - Minnesota

If you enjoy outpatient oncology but want to practice somewhere with the people and resources around you to actually support the work, this Minnesota assignment is worth a conversation.

The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM with no call. The need is expected to run for approximately six months with the possibility of extending. Consistent coverage would be ideal for continuity, but the practice is open to discussing physicians who can offer shorter blocks or selected weeks as well. December coverage would be especially helpful.

This is primarily a Medical Oncology practice, although the patient population also includes Hematology. Rather than trying to define the perfect physician with a long checklist, I would rather understand the type of oncology you practice, what you enjoy doing and whether the clinical mix makes sense for you.

You would be joining an established outpatient oncology and infusion program with dedicated oncology and infusion nursing, an Oncology Nurse Navigator, research support and access to a larger multidisciplinary cancer program. Epic is used for documentation, and daily volume is generally around 13-20 patients.

The work includes new consultations, active treatment and follow-up, systemic therapy management, review of labs and imaging and coordination with the infusion center. More than anything, they need another good oncologist who can step in, care for the patients and give the existing physician some much-needed additional coverage.
