Job description

Position Highlights:
-Start and End Date: Nov 1 – July 31, 2027
-Coverage needed per month: Weekday day-shift coverage in a hospital-based outpatient oncology clinic and infusion center.
-Frequency of any Call needed: Second call every third weekend.
-Schedule Details: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, hospital shift coverage.

Work Details:
-Support staff: 3 MDs and 2 APPs, plus an oncology pharmacist, nurse navigator, oncology RN, onsite radiation therapy, onsite infusion center, and palliative support team.
-Department Description: Hospital-based outpatient medical oncology clinic and 13-chair infusion center. The provider will manage new patient consults and follow-ups and will also complete inpatient rounding independently and with the APP team.
-Patient Volume: Approximately 8 patients per day for the primary caseload; approximately 2 inpatient rounding patients per day; approximately 15-20 outpatient visits per day.
-EMR/Documentation System: Epic and Aria
-Special Procedures/Unit Details: Case mix is approximately 85% oncology and 15% hematology. Malignancies include breast, lung (NSCLC/SCLC), colorectal, prostate, pancreatic, gynecologic, head and neck, melanoma, and other skin cancers.
Treatment oversight includes IV/oral chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and clinical trials. Responsibilities include chemotherapy supervision/orders, management of oncologic emergencies, and participation in tumor boards/multidisciplinary case reviews.

Requirements:

-Board Certifications Req'd: Board Certified in Medical Oncology required
-State License(s) Req'd: IMLC, WI
-Certifications Req'd: BLS, Chemotherapy Certification - ONS, and Bone Marrow Biopsy certification
-Specific Skills Req'd: Medical oncology, chemotherapy supervision/orders, management of oncologic emergencies, and tumor board/multidisciplinary case review participation
-Minimum Experience Req'd: 1-3 years
-Any additional requirements/details to screen for: Facility bylaws allow for an APP, and the physician may supervise APPs. The provider must cover both new patient consults and follow-ups. No trauma designation is listed.
