Neurohospitalist Needed in Orange Park, FL | PRN Coverage | Stroke Alerts | 24-Hour Shifts

Job description

Start: November 2, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: 13 weeks - PRN/per diem coverage only

Coverage: Inpatient neurohospitalist coverage including consults, rounding, and stroke alerts at the hospital; coverage of admitted patients at an attached rehab facility; coverage of 3 free-standing EDs. No outpatient practice assistance needed.
Schedule: Provider works 5 to 10, 24-hour shifts. The first 12 hours (7:00a-7:00p) is a hospitalist shift covering rounding, consults, and stroke alerts; the second 12 hours (7:00p-7:00a) is on call for stroke alerts and possible calls from the hospital. Continuous coverage.
Call: Overnight on-call portion of each 24-hour shift; nights are usually quiet

Volume: Permanent physician signs out approximately 12 patients per day; the list can reach the 20s. Stroke alert volume is low - handled in person during working hours and via tele when not in the hospital; inpatient stroke alerts are rare.
Practice Setting: Hospital (inpatient plus rehab), with 3 free-standing EDs
Support: Nursing staff and techs

Responsibilities:
- Inpatient rounding, consults, and stroke alert response
- Coverage of admitted rehab patients
- Timely documentation in Meditech (with Patient Keeper and eCW)

Requirements:
- Board Certified in Neurology
- Active Florida license required at time of submission
- BLS certification required
- Credentialing timeline: minimum 90 days
- Not open to candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
