1. Job Title: Stroke Floor Hospitalist (Internal Medicine)
2. Organization: Regional Brain Institute (RBI)
3. Service Site: SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital—OKC, Comprehensive Stroke Center, 1000 N Lee Ave, OKC, OK 73102. Other RBI service sites may be available.
4. Position Summary: RBI seeks a dedicated Hospitalist (Internal Medicine) to provide expert care for stroke and neurocritical patients in the inpatient setting at our Comprehensive Stroke Center, SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital—OKC.
5. Your Role:
a. Serve as the primary admitting and attending physician for patients on the Stroke Floor.
b. Manage inpatient patients who have/had stroke, neurocritical care, and related conditions.
c. Lead a multidisciplinary team (PT, OT, ST, Case Management) to optimize patient outcomes.
d. Collaborate closely with Neuro ICU physicians, stroke/vascular neurologists, neuro-interventionalists, and other consultants.
e. Coordinate with stroke navigators, nursing teams, and night-coverage providers.
f. Manage patient census and coordinate transfers (inbound and among hospitalist teams) as needed.
g. When stroke/neuro census is low, provide general management of uncomplicated cases in nephrology, endocrinology, oncology, hematology, cardiology, gastroenterology, allergy, critical care, pulmonary, rheumatology, and infectious disease.
6. Schedule: On-site, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Shift duration may be reduced in the future.
7. Privileges:
a. Internal Medicine Core Privileges: (including lumbar puncture and general management of uncomplicated subspecialty cases).
b. Moderate Sedation for Non-Anesthesia Providers: Must meet one of the following:
i. Current ACLS, ATLS, or PALS/NRP certification AND successful completion of a competency test (score ≥ 80%) on pharmacological agents used for sedation.
ii. Current board certification in Emergency Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, or Neonatology.
