Job description

The physician will provide a mix of 60% corneal subspecialty care and 40% general ophthalmology. The role includes clinic and surgical responsibilities, supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical technology. Physicians will manage corneal cases while maintaining a broad-based practice, working alongside a collegial multispecialty ophthalmology team. Physicians work closely with optometrists, many ER referrals, and primary care to ensure collaborative patient care. Good mix of staff, some 5-6 years out of fellowship and some close to retirement.

You will find a lot of freedom to practice. You can develop skills. Training for new skills is supported.

80% clinic, 20% OR

o 300–500 cataract cases annually (bread and butter)

Experience the latest generation of modern equipment.
No structured teaching responsibilities. Some informal.
You can get a lot of Diagnostic testing.
There are lots of assistants, techs and physician partners.
Expect to see fewer patients than in private practice.
There is a new building the team will be working in.
Expect to receive more tools and modalities than in private practice.
3 general ophthalmologists, 2 retina specialists, and 1 glaucoma specialist

Salary growth: Receive an increase every year in July
Annual incentives ($8K–$12K)
Shareholder bonus after 3 years (usually $12K–$15K/yr and max is $20K)
Sign-on Bonus - $220,000 (7 year forgiveness)
.5 units per call back (for Cash or PTO)

In addition:

PSLF – Public Service Loan Forgiveness Eligible
Home Loan Program: 10% of the purchase up to $250K with interest covered for 10 years

Retirement package includes:

Pension Plan on Base and Bonuses (5-year vesting) 2 % per year for 20 years and 1 % per year after that.
You can earn up to 50% of your average income paid during your retirement.
Employer Contribution = Approx. $26,000/yr = 5% of your pay up to ~$168K, and 10% of pay above that up to ~$345K. (based on Govt limits)
401(k) Salary Deferral Plan (employee-directed contributions)

PTO: 4–6 weeks depending on tenure. You will receive Units that can be applied as additional PTO.
2 units = 8 hrs = 1 day.
CME: $5,000 and 1 week annually

Malpractice fully covered
Relocation allowance: up to $10K

Monday–Friday with extended-day option and one day off every other week
Hospital call: 1:5 weeks (soon to be 1:7), 30 min beeper response, rare callbacks.

MD/DO with fellowship training in cornea
BC or BE in Ophthalmology
Strong interest in long-term, collaborative practice
