Job description
Billings Clinic – Main Campus is seeking a board-eligible Ophthalmologist for ongoing locum tenens coverage starting ASAP. The schedule includes week-long shifts (Friday 7 AM to Friday 7 AM), combining daytime clinic responsibilities with overnight beeper call coverage.
This is a high-volume, surgical ophthalmology practice, and recent hands-on OR experience is required. Providers must be comfortable working independently and responding promptly to consults in a Level 1 trauma center setting. This role includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and hospital admissions when necessary.
Assignment Overview:
- Start Date: ASAP | End Date: Ongoing (through 2025)
- Schedule: Friday 7:00 AM to Friday 7:00 AM (1–2 weeks/month)
- Setting: Inpatient + Outpatient
- Call: Beeper-based, includes nights; 20-minute response time required
- Call Ratio: Variable
- Rounding: Assigned and unassigned patients
- EMR: Cerner | Internal communication: Voalte
- Trauma Level: 1 | Stroke Certified Facility
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship preferred, not required
- Recent surgical experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must obtain full privileges (no temp privileges)
- Estimated credentialing time: 90 days

- Busy, high-acuity setting with surgical volume—recent operative experience required; EMR: Cerner; Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Inpatient/outpatient mix; Voalte used for internal communication; urgent need due to last-minute provider cancellation.
