Optometrist – Locum Tenens

Job description

A healthcare facility in Richland Center, WI is seeking one Optometrist for a locum tenens assignment. This is an outpatient-focused role with no call and a manageable patient volume, ideal for providers who enjoy building a growing clinic.

Schedule:
Monday–Thursday, 8-hour shifts
Possible Friday coverage for additional hours
No call
Patient Volume:
10–12 patients per day to start
Expected to increase to 14–15 patients per day as the clinic grows

Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive eye exams
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts
Prescribe corrective lenses
Provide vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation as needed
Perform minor procedures (foreign body removal, punctal plugs, etc.)
Collaborate with primary care and specialty providers
Educate patients on eye health and preventive care
Document care accurately in the EMR
Participate in community outreach and vision screening events

Requirements:
Optometrist with 2+ years of experience
Active or eligible Wisconsin license
Comfortable working independently in an outpatient setting
Technology & Equipment:
EMR: Meditech Expanse (training provided)
Equipment: Topcon (training provided)
