Inpatient Psychiatrist (Medical Director) – Full Time (California Licensed Only)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Call: 1 weekend per month (rounding only)
Setting: Adult Inpatient Psychiatry (Ages 18+)
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified Psychiatrist (ABPN) with strong inpatient experience to join a 67-bed adult psychiatric unit. The physician will manage approximately 2–3 admissions per day, with a typical PPD of 14 and a 7:1 evaluation ratio. The ideal candidate has demonstrated leadership, strong clinical acumen, and active engagement within the psychiatric community.

Clinical Responsibilities

Full-time inpatient psychiatric care

Daily patient caseload: ~14 patients

Admissions: 2–3 per day

Weekend rounding: 1 weekend/month

Evaluate and treat adult patients with:

Anxiety Disorders

Affective Disorders

ADHD/ADD

Personality Disorders

Psychotic Disorders

Medication Management/Pharmacotherapy

Utilize Cerner EMR

Participate in a collaborative, multidisciplinary treatment environment

Requirements

Must Have:

Board Certification by ABPN

Active California Medical License

Strong Inpatient Psychiatry Background (required)

Leadership experience

Clean background

Excellent professional reputation

History of professional contribution to psychiatry within the last 5 years

Active participation in APA and other medical professional organizations

Documented community involvement

Strong professional references

Experience working in teaching hospitals

Prior publications preferred

Membership in the American Psychiatric Association
