Locum Psychiatrist Opportunity | Michigan | Inpatient Psychiatry

Job description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide locum inpatient coverage in Michigan. This role offers a mix of short-term coverage through 2025 and a full-time ongoing assignment starting January 2026.

🩺 Position Details

Setting: Inpatient Psychiatric Department
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call: 1 weekday call (5 PM – 8 AM, unrestricted if able) & 1:4 weekend call rotation
Patients per Day: ~12
Total Beds: 27
Support Staff: 5 Psychiatrists + 6 Psychiatric NPs (NP supervision required)
Referrals: Primarily from Muskegon and Grand Rapids EDs
Security: 24/7 on-site with staff duress system
EMR: Epic
Credentialing: Approx. 3 months (need ASAP start)

💡 Clinical Focus
You’ll manage and treat a range of adult psychiatric conditions including:
Anxiety, Affective, Personality, Psychotic, Eating, Developmental, and Organic Disorders.
Experience with involuntary commitments, seclusion therapy, pharmacotherapy, group therapy, and restraint application is required.

✅ Requirements

Board Certified in Psychiatry
Active Michigan License or IMLC/LOQ
Current BLS Certification
Must be available for full-time coverage beginning January 2026
