Clinical Director (Psychiatrist)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
On-Call: None
Patient Population: Adults, ages 18–90+
Setting: 16-bed inpatient unit (current census: 12)
Average Length of Stay: 30–90 days

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Psychiatrist to lead the medical services of a small, inpatient unit serving adult patients. This role provides medical leadership while working closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team. Operational and administrative functions are supported by a dedicated Hospital Administrator, allowing the Clinical Director to focus on clinical quality, provider oversight, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all medical services within the unit

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care

Establish and maintain clinical standards, policies, and best practices

Supervise and support medical staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements

Participate in treatment planning and clinical decision-making as appropriate

Partner with the Hospital Administrator to align clinical care with organizational goals

Work Environment

Small, close-knit inpatient unit with a maximum of 16 beds

Stable weekday schedule with no on-call responsibilities

Focus on longer-term treatment with average stays of 30–90 days

Collaborative leadership structure separating clinical and operational responsibilities

Qualifications

MD or DO (board certification/eligibility preferred, specialty dependent on program focus)

Active and unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain)

Prior leadership or medical director experience in an inpatient or clinical setting preferred

Strong communication and teamwork skills
