Job description

Schedule: 7p-7a any 2 days Tuesday - Saturday
Call requirement: no. provider will be onsite
Patient ages: Adults, infrequent psychiatric consultation of pediatric patients in the medical ER (Main ED)
Daily patient volume: There are two psychiatric ER units (PED and PEU) and 1 psychiatric ER consult Team that responds to the consult in the medical ER (Main ED) and psychiatric intake area. Providers assigned to the psych ER units are expected to manage a max of 10 patients during their shifts. Provider working on the consult team see an average volume of 5 to 6 patients during a 12 hour shift
Expectations: Completion of initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations, working in coordination with the multidisciplinary team, communication of recommendations to consulting team and orders placed as indicated, doc-to-doc for transfers to/from PED/PEU to Main ED, consulting other services as needed (e.g. hospitalist medicine), completion of legal paperwork for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization (OPC applications), completion of physician-only task for APPs (e.g. restraint orders, face to face exam and signature on OPC application)?, admission of patients to psych observation as indicated
