Locum Tenens Rheumatologist
Location: Providence Hood River Rheumatology, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Hood River, OR
Position Type: Locum Tenens
Duration: Mid-May to Mid-September 2026
Schedule: Tuesday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call: During working hours only
Compensation: $215-$230
Position Summary:
Providence Hood River Rheumatology is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Rheumatologist for a Locum Tenens opportunity to provide outpatient care in a scenic and supportive community setting. This position offers a unique opportunity to work independently in a well-equipped clinic with a dedicated support team.
Practice Details:
Setting: 100% outpatient rheumatology
Patient Demographics:
95% Adult
5% Pediatric
Average Daily Patient Volume: 14 patients/day
Clinical Focus:
65% Arthritis
30% Autoimmune Conditions
5% Chronic Fatigue
Procedures:
Arthrocentesis
Joint and Soft Tissue Injections
Familiarity with Intravenous Therapies
Support Staff:
1 Registered Nurse (RN)
1 Medical Assistant (MA)
Facilities:
2 Exam Rooms
On-site Laboratory
On-site X-ray
Infusion services available at the hospital
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Supervision Duties: None; solo rheumatologist on site
Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days
Qualifications:
Board Certified in Rheumatology or Residency Trained (Board Eligible candidates considered)
Active BLS Certification
Valid Oregon Medical License (or eligibility to obtain)
Experience in outpatient rheumatology and internal medicine preferred
Proficiency in arthrocentesis and joint/soft tissue injections
Comfortable managing intravenous therapies
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive outpatient rheumatologic care
Manage patient appointments and provider in-basket
Collaborate with RN and MA for patient care coordination
Participate in daytime call coverage during scheduled work hours
